Solar Desalination making drinking Water for Sustainable Development

Solar desalination works and makes distilled water. To make a solar desalinator a drinking water machine, add calcite (crushed marble) to the water collection trough and make drinking water.

The feed water, feed water recirculating, and brine drain lines are set inside the lined feed water well.The heated feed water (180-200 degrees F) is gravity fed into the evaporator water well and recirculated by pumping the evaporator water through the second solar water heater. The evaporator feed water should be kept at the 15 - 20 gallon level and constantly recirculating.

The condensate trough is fitted around the feed water well and is held in place by the outer frame of the solar evaporator. Calcite, or crushed marble, is placed inside the the condensate trough to adjust the pH of the condensate water and add taste.
