ZLD Recovery Weights and Volumes
Equipment required:
10,000 gpd vapor compressor
1000 gallon recycle tank
500 gallon brine tank
1 cubic foot water = 7.48 gallons
1 gallon water = 8.34 pounds
10,000 gpd at 1000ppm = 8,340 pounds solids
per 1,000,000,000 gallons (83.4 pounds of solids per 10,000 gallons).
A 10,000 gpd vapor compressor generates 9,000
gallons of distilled water and 1,000 gallons of reject brine
water at 10,000 ppm.
This 1,000 gallons of 10,000 ppm reject water
must be compressed a second time, yielding 100 gallons of reject
brine at 100,000 ppm (84 pounds).
900 gallons of 10,000 ppm reject brine should
be added to the 100 gallons of 100,000 ppm primary reject brine
water in the 1,000 gallon tank, producing 1000 gallons of reject
brine water at 15,000 ppm (approximately 150 pounds solids).
The 1000 gallons of reject brine water at
15,000 ppm will be compressed to 100 gallons of 150,000 ppm reject
brine.
900 gallons of 10,000 ppm reject brine should
again be added to the 100 gallons of 150,000 ppm reject brine
(approximately 225 pounds solids) This batch should be compressed
and stored in the 500 gallon brine tank for solids recovery.
The final reject brine is at 210 degrees
Fahrenheit and will evaporate rapidly into the atmosphere. Supersaturation
may be achieved with no additional heat.
NOTE: 5,000 gpd vapor compressors are also
available.
